Why Use Organic Cotton

Why use organic cotton?

Cotton is one of the most widely used fabric in the world.

It’s a natural, sustainable and a non toxic material.
Or at least it should be.

However in non organic cotton fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides are used. This affects the earth and local ecosystems, the people living near the crops, animals and ultimately you, the end consumer.

Toxic chemicals and heavy metals are present in the material.
Over time these are absorbed into the human body and also flushed into the water through the waste from our washing machines. Affecting the environment even more.

Organic cotton uses no pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers.
It limits soil erosion and uses less water and 62% less energy.
It is better for all involved in its manufacture AND those who have it in their homes.

The Sustainable Review says ‘The higher price of organic cotton reflects its true cost, accounting for sustainable farming practices. Choosing organic cotton supports a sustainable lifestyle, contributing to a healthier planet and fair labor practices.'

It took a long time for me to find a British manufacturer that could make my products in organic cotton.
Most organic cotton I see is very minimalist.
Not my style at all.

But I finally managed to get my black and colour saturated designs made.
Take a look at the results on my organic cotton cushion covers and organic cotton tea towels.
Sustainable doesn’t have to be boring.
