Apricity
Apricity means 'the warmth of the sun in winter'.
To me that word makes me think of the feeling of the sun shining on your face.
I usually use a lot of cool tones in my work, but this one felt like it had to be warm.
I wanted to capture the feeling I had when visiting the temple of the reclining buddha in Bangkok, or La Chaisen cemetery in Paris. When life slowed down, and I could appreciate the magic of where I was.
Often we try so hard to make things happen that we forget how magnetic we can be.
This painting was a reminder to slow down and absorb pleasure. The snake is languidly taking in the suns warm rays. The lichen a sign of clean and fresh air.
